Born Out of Necessity, Fueled by Attitude

Back in 2012, in a small coffee shop in Saratoga Springs, New York, our founder Mike Brown noticed a recurring problem: his morning customers were groggy, exhausted, and asking for one simple thing—coffee that was actually strong.

Instead of serving up the same weak, watery brew found everywhere else, Mike took matters into his own hands. He hunted down the highest-quality beans, experimented with unique roasting techniques, and unlocked the ultimate blend. That was the day Death Wish Coffee was born—built on a single, uncompromising belief: Life is too short to drink bad coffee.

Redefining Robusta: The Science of Strength

Most coffee snobs turn their noses up at Robusta beans. We didn’t care. While Arabica brings the smooth flavor, Robusta packs up to twice the natural caffeine.

We dared to do things differently. By carefully sourcing and expertly roasting a precise blend of organic Arabica and Robusta beans from places like India and Peru, we created the World’s Strongest Coffee. The result? A remarkably bold, smooth, low-acidity cup of coffee with a massive kick of natural energy that leaves no room for jitters or compromise.

Our Milestones: From a Local Shop to Outer Space

What started as a desperate mission to keep a local coffee shop afloat quickly snowballed into a global movement:

  • 2012: Death Wish Coffee is officially founded in Saratoga Springs, NY.
  • 2013: A massive wave of national attention begins after a feature on Good Morning America.
  • 2016: We shock the world by winning Intuit’s “Small Business Big Game” competition, airing a commercial during Super Bowl 50 to 167 million viewers.
  • 2018: We team up with NASA Food Labs to develop an instant freeze-dried blend, officially helping caffeinate astronauts on the International Space Station.
  • Today: We continue to shake up the coffee industry as a top-selling organic brew, relentlessly expanding our roasts without ever losing our rebellious edge.
